PAL Essential Employees School-Aged Child Care




During these unprecedented times, Albany PAL is responding to the critical need for childcare services for essential workers.

We have extended care to cover “essential” workers. Essential workers include retail convenience store workers, grocery store clerks, child care service workers, auto-repair workers, food service workers, and many other “essential” worker positions.

Hours of operation: 8:00am-6:00pm, Mon.-Fri. starting May 18th.

Essential Employee paperwork required.

Includes: 2 cloth face masks per child (parents responsible for cleaning face masks),
3 camp t-shirts, water bottle, breakfast, lunch and a snack everyday.

DSS accepted/Scholarship opportunities available

$25 registration fee and first weeks payment is required upon applying.

Mentoring

Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program is a FREE program which matches Albany City youth with compassionate, concerned, and interested adults from the community. Mentors and mentees meet once a week at the Albany PAL Center for a 60-90 minute session. Mentors and mentees will participate in a variety of activities such as character and leadership development, health and life skills, sports and recreation, arts and crafts, and education and career development programs.

Mentoring is a great way to engage our youth and promote a healthy sense of community while connecting with Community Volunteers and Law Enforcement in a positive, structured and nurturing environment!

Albany PAL mentoring has moved online! Sign-ups are available and meetings will be scheduled via text and/or email 
and hosted on Zoom!

Baseball & Albany PAL American Little League!

The Albany Police Athletic League is currently exploring a "Sandlot" style modified season in conjunction with the current situation 
and appropriate responses to COVID-19. This program would meet twice weekly and consist of practices, training and games divided by age. This program would culminate in a local travel division in partnership with other Capital Region Little League programs.

Youth Leadership Council (YLC)


Youth Leadership Council (YLC)

The Albany PAL Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is made up of high school-aged children who work with Albany Police Officers and PAL staff to discuss and recommend effective ways to better Albany PAL. The YLC provides a youthful voice in determining PAL programs, policies, and strategies. The children of YLC provide positive peer role models, improve communication between PAL staff and the youth they serve, and perform community service projects. The YLC meets at the Albany PAL Center @ VI every 1st and 3rd Monday from 6:30-7:30 PM.YLC runs from mid September until June 30th. Enrollment is year round. Come join us and help make a difference in your community.

Explorers

Explorers is a career education program for high school-aged youth who are interested in learning more about the field of law enforcement. Explorers emphasizes five areas of importance; career opportunities, service learning, leadership experience, life skills, and character education. The mission of the Explorer program is to serve others by helping instill core values in young people and, in other ways, prepare them to make ethical choices throughout their lives so they can achieve their full potential.
